Job Description.

Under the direct supervision of the TSF Manager (Project Construction and Operations) , the incumbent will have the essential role of meticulously planning each aspect of the tailings facility (TSF) even before construction begins. This crucial role involves the development of comprehensive project schedules, with impeccable accuracy in terms of time, budget and manpower. He will also be responsible for steering the contractor selection process, finding the ideal partner to bring our vision to life.

Obtaining all necessary permits and ensuring compliance with strict safety and environmental regulations on site will also be the responsibility of the holder of this position as will establishing clear communication channels with all relevant stakeholders.

His Responsibilities Will Include, Among Other Things (non-exhaustive)

• Manage project risks and develop mitigation strategies to resolve potential issues.
• Monitor project progress and identify areas for improvement, implementing corrective actions if necessary.
• Monitor project expenses and ensure compliance with budgetary constraints.
• Oversee the selection of contractors and manage contractual obligations.
• Conduct regular project reviews and communicate progress updates to key stakeholders.
• Estimate project timelines, budgets and labor requirements.
• Prepare tender documents and manage the contractor selection process.
• Obtain all necessary permits and approvals for the construction of the TSF.
• Participate in design reviews and ensure construction plans meet design specifications, safety standards and environmental regulations.
• Develop a comprehensive risk management plan for the TSF construction project, identifying potential risks and mitigation strategies.
• Establish clear communication protocols for all stakeholders involved in the TSF construction project.
• Completion of the TSF construction project on time and on budget.
• Minimize project risks and disruptions.
• Supervise the final inspection and commissioning of the wastewater treatment facility.
• Prepare as-built plans and documentation for the completed water treatment facility.
• Finalize and settle all construction contracts.
• Hand over the operational water treatment plant to the operations team according to a documented plan.
• Participate in post-construction reviews to identify lessons learned and improve future TSF projects.
  
  

Job requirements.

Qualifications And Experience.

• Hold an A0 level university degree in civil engineering, mining engineering or a related field.
• Proof of significant experience ( 7 years minimum ) in construction planning in the mining industry, with a focus on TSF projects.
• Proven experience leading and supervising construction teams.
• Thorough understanding of waste storage facility design, construction, operation and maintenance principles.
• Knowledge of French or Swahili is an asset.
