Job Description

Kamoto Copper Company Société Anonyme, KCC SA in acronym, is a Congolese company operating in Kolwezi, capital of the province of Lualaba, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

KCC SA exploits copper and cobalt ores on a large scale. It includes an underground mine, open-pit mines and integrated metallurgical facilities. The operation has one of the largest copper reserves in the world, with a current life of over 25 years.

Job Description.

Reporting directly to the Organizational Development Manager, the incumbent will have a critical role in providing a diversity and inclusion service and support function to Kamoto Copper Company (KCC) and ensuring an inclusive culture, which will directly contribute to building and sustaining a good employer and positioning KCC as an employer of choice. He/She will contribute to driving strategic initiatives, collaborating with various departments and successfully implementing diversity and inclusion efforts across the organization. He/She will work closely with KCC senior management and the Copper Africa Regional DEI Specialist to ensure smooth and successful day-to-day execution of the IDEAL strategy within KCC.

He/She will have, among other things, the following responsibilities (non-exhaustive list):

  • Assist in the implementation of the Copper Africa regional strategy and the global IDEAL strategy;
  • Help drive the KCC IDEAL strategy in alignment with the Copper Africa IDEAL strategy to support KCC’s business objectives;
  • Partner with KCC senior leadership and the Regional DEI Specialist to develop and implement a roadmap to continuously improve the company's diversity and inclusion efforts;
  • Assist in achieving KCC’s IDEAL goals and targets in alignment with Copper Africa ’s Regional DEI Specialist to support the company’s overall business objectives;
  • Support the implementation of KCC’s IDEAL initiatives to promote and foster a diverse and inclusive culture within KCC;
  • Facilitate IDEAL forums and committees within the KCC in collaboration with the KCC IDEAL Business Champion, in harmony with the IDEAL Steering Committee led by the Regional DEI Specialist;
  • Review communications materials and collaborate with the communications team to plan and establish IDEAL communications plans for KCC, working with the Regional DEI Specialist to define the framework, structure and communications channels to promote IDEAL internally and connect to the KCC employer brand externally;
  • Assist in the design and implementation of IDEAL training programs within KCC, based on regional and global training plans, to socialize and train employees, management and relevant stakeholders, in collaboration with the Regional DEI Specialist. This will include to some extent training of colleagues. ;
  • Work with stakeholders and HR teams to help develop and implement diversity and inclusion policies within KCC that align with the company culture and values;
  • Act as a change agent for the company regarding IDEAL;
  • Support the recruiting team in ensuring that recruiting and retention practices are inclusive and attract diverse talent;
  • Monitor and evaluate progress of IDEAL initiatives and provide reports to senior management;
  • Collaborate with the Community Development team to help implement IDEAL initiatives involving the community;
  • Assist the Regional DEI Specialist in building partnerships with external organizations to enhance diversity and inclusion efforts.

Job requirements .

Qualifications

Qualifications and experience.

  • Hold a university degree in human resources, psychology, law, business management, community development or a similar field;
  • Have at least 7 years of professional experience in the field of Human Resources, Industrial Relations or community development;
  • Have mastery of Swahili (read, write, speak);
  • Proficiency in two languages (French and English) is an additional asset
  • Hold a job seeker card (ONEM).

Technical Skills.

  • Have a solid command of MS Office -Word, Excel and Powerpoint;
  • Good report writing skills;
  • Emergency and priority management: ability to respond quickly and effectively in emergencies.
