We are seeking a highly skilled Accounting Assistant to support our DRC Country Programs. The accounting team works for all country office programs, without distinction, and provides support to projects in accounting for expenses, payments to suppliers and other beneficiaries in return for services provided to the national program office.
Responsibilities:
Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Accounting Assistant will perform the following tasks:
- Verify petty cash documents and enter the GL in Business World
- Verify accounting documents related to project activities (Workshop) and travel reports before validation by approvers
- Attach proof of payments to approved transaction vouchers in Business World and to original vouchers
- Share proof of payments and details of liquidated invoices with suppliers
- Reconcile travel service provider accounts
- Track payments to travel service providers and ensure timely payments
- Record payment requests in Mobile Money platforms and bank accounts
- Verify Vendor Invoices Receivable Before Posting to Business World for Payment
- Generate payment requests for invoices that have already been approved and track their payment
- Periodically perform audits of accounting documents to verify their compliance
- Participate in physical inventories of supplies, consumables, materials and equipment of PATH's offices
- Any other accounting tasks at the request of the supervisor or finance manager
Required Skills & Experience:
- At least 3 years of total experience in accounting and finance either in a for-profit or a non-profit organization.
- Advanced skill with Excel, Word,
- Experience in ERP based financial software is preferred.
- Seasoned accountant with the capacity to work independently with minimum supervision
- to support the entire country office from location of work.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, bookkeeping techniques, and methodologies
- Ability to communicate clearly on accounting issues, risks associated with non-compliance on operations.
- Well-organized with good follow-through skills.
- High attention to detail.
- Proven interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively independently and in a team.
- Problem-solving skills and initiative
- Able to work as part of a team and to build strong working relationships.
- Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills in English and French
